I'll Remember Al

from Halls of Time, Volume 1 by Paul Rosevear

/

about

I wrote this song for my Great Uncle Albert, who just passed away a couple of years ago. He played guitar and loved country western music. It seemed like nothing could keep him down. "All my doctors are dyin' in me!" he always used to say. Love you Al, see ya on the other side.

lyrics

Sittin' in the kitchen
Grinnin' through his teeth
Rappin' on the table
With knuckles big as knees
Uncle Al
Big, bad Uncle Al

Messin' with the kiddies
Fixin' busted junk
Get away with murder
Then tell ya how it's done
Uncle Al
Big, bad Uncle Al

One foot in the grave
One foot on the gas
Always on the run
Never lookin' back
When I'm feelin' low
And I really need a smile
I'll remember Al

Strummin' country western
Fishin' at the pond
He don't leave the house
Without his trucker hat on
Uncle Al
Big, bad Uncle Al

One foot in the grave
One foot on the gas
Always on the run
Never lookin' back
When I'm feelin' low
And I really need a smile
I'll remember Al

93 years drivin'
But. never did get far
Born and died in Scraton
All he left behind's a car
Uncle Al
Big, bad Uncle Al

One foot in the grave
One foot on the gas
Always on the run
Never lookin' back
When I'm feelin' low
And I really need a smile
I'll remember Al
